MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers… MOPS International recognizes that the years from infancy to kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs. MOPS exists to meet the needs of every mom – urban and suburban moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single and married moms – moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be!
Our 2007 meeting dates are 10/1, 11/8, & 12/13
Our 2008 meeting dates are: 1/10, 2/14, 3/13, 4/3, & 5/8
Childcare is provided for a nominal fee for all members, contact Katherine Michalak to make childcare reservations.
The overall goal of MOPS East Cobb is to minister to moms of young children. The MOPS mission statement is “Meeting the needs of Mothers to the Glory of Jesus Christ.” It is our hope that our group upholds this mission by offering moms a place to go to share their hopes, dreams and frustrations of motherhood with others who are currently experiencing this truly blessed part of life.

A Practical Introduction to the Christian Faith
Open to All
January 13 -March 16, 2008
Sunday Evenings 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Dinner and Childcare Provided
Click here for the weekly schedule
Alpha is a ten-week practical introduction to the Christian faith. It offers answers to some key questions and also allows an opportunity to strengthen your faith through small group discussions. Each weekly session begins with an informal dinner, a talk by Nicky Gumbel, and a small-group discussion.
St Peter and St Paul has offered Alpha courses since 2000. Alpha works on many levels:
- It is ideal -- and designed for -- new Christians or the unchurched who are interested in exploring Christianity in a non-dogmatic, safe environment
- Newcomers to our church have found this a wonderful way to get to know other church members on a deeper level and become more integrated in our church family
- Mature Christians have found true spritual renewal and deeper understanding of their faith by watching this series of plain-language videos and participating in small groups where everyone is accepted wherever they are on their spiritual journey.
The new course is about to begin: to sign up call the church office at 770-977-7473 or call Deelee Freeman at 770-645-8216.
What is Alpha? Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian Faith. Adults of all ages are welcome. Learning and laughter. It is possible to learn about the Christian faith and to have fun at the same time! People meeting together. An opportunity to get to know others and to make new friends. Helping one another. The small groups give you a chance to discuss issues raised during the talks. Ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is seen as too simple or too hostile. Alpha is open to all people interested in the Christian faith!! We invite all of our neighbors regardless of membership, faith, or religious belief.
Alpha began in
London and is now held in thousands of churches around the world. Join the thousands who have found answers to their questions about life and God and how they relate. Did you miss out on the first course that was offered? Here is your chance to participate in the next course!
Who is Alpha For?
Alpha is for everyone! It’s especially geared to:
Those hungry for spiritual renewal
People interested in investigating Christianity
Newcomers to the church.

Alpha Weekend Away at
Callaway
Gardens, Fall 2000.
"It has been great to take part in the discussion groups each Sunday and to talk through some of the really difficult questions that test our faith, such as how to make sense of the tragedies that befall good people. It's refreshing to know that as Christians it's ok to struggle with these issues, and that Alpha provides a safe environment to talk about our doubts as well as our positive experiences of God's love for us." ~ Alpha participant

EFM: Education For Ministry
Now taking applications for fall
classes.
Contact Jane Gilbout to register.
EFM is a program of
study developed by the School of Theology of the University of the South. It
involves study, theological reflection and worship. The course of study is
roughly as follows: first year, old testament; second year, new testament;
third year, church history; fourth year, modern theologians. While it is a
four-year program, individuals commit for only one year at a time.
EFM is for lay
people, who face the difficult and often subtle task of interpreting the
richness of the church's faith in a complex and confusing world. They need the
kind of theological education which supports their faith and which also trains
them to express that faith in day-to-day events. As the emphasis on lay
ministry has grown in the latter part of the twentieth century, EFM has come to
be an important part of that growth by providing a program that develops an
informed and knowledgeable laity.
The group meets from August 29th through May
on Monday evening from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. (a second EFM class is forming this year which may also meet on Monday or Tuesday nights). For more information, please contact Jane Gilbout at the church
office, 770-587-4168 or
