ADULT CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
9:15 – 10:15am
Fall/Winter 2011-2012
Bible Study Carola & Herb Mattord
Location - Garden Room (downstairs by kitchen – northwest corner)
We take a closer look at the Lectionary Bible readings for each Sunday, taking a particular interest in the Biblical and historical context for each reading. Through group discussion and interpretation, we tease further meaning out of the readings to gain a better understanding of how God’s Word challenges our lives.
Women’s Bible Study Anne Wright & JoAnn Gotschall
Location - Room 7 (downstairs across from choir room)
This class looks at the particular challenges and gifts Christian women have on their Christian journey. It is a small group-based study which focuses on the ways God and the Spirit move within the lives of Christian women, and how we can best learn to embrace and grow with Christ.
The Training of the Twelve Kurt Mueller
Location - Deacon Chip’s Office (upstairs – between restrooms)
The Training of the Twelve is a learned, suggestive, and most practical study of all that our Lord said to and did for His twelve apostles. There is nothing quite as important on the life of our Lord as related to the training of the twelve apostles as this book. If you are looking for a greater knowledge and understanding of our Lord and have an interest in learning how He trained the twelve Apostles to represent Him in the world, this is the book for you. Through the years, thousands have read this work with great, personal benefit to their own maturation and spiritual growth. This book was written by A.B. Bruce in 1871 and John Musselman has revised the book in contemporary English to make it more readable to modern audiences and added some great discussion questions. Please plan to join us on Sunday, Sept. 11th @ 9:15 AM in the Parish Hall (stage area) for our introductory class led by John Musselman on The Training of the Twelve. Afterwards, if you are interested in joining our small group class, you will have the opportunity to sign up and purchase your book. Our first class will begin on Sept. 25th and conclude on December 18th.
