Youth Confirmation 2023/2024

Know Your Story, Confirm Your Faith, Live Your Commitment

Confirmation is designed for students in 10th grade, but is also available for all High School students who have not been through confirmation.

Confirmation is a modern adaptation of an ancient church practice by which individuals were prepared for entry into Christian faith and life. Confirmation is the rite in which we express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop.

Confirmation is a nine month process beginning with a lunch and orientation on August 13, 2023 with Father Tom and Mother Elisa. Each teenager will be given a Book of Common Prayer and a prayer journal. In addition, each student will have someone from our prayer team praying for them throughout the process.

Confirmation will take place during Youth Sunday school and weekly Sunday worship. Through these ministries, students will have the opportunity to learn and practice spiritual disciplines such as the Daily Examen, Lectio Divina, Bible Study, and Intercessory Prayer. They will also have the opportunity to learn and discuss the following topics:

  • The Story of Scripture: God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

  • The Story of the Church

  • Creeds, Book of Common Prayer, Catechism, Christian Ethics

  • Worship 1: Liturgy of the Word and Liturgy of the Table

  • Worship 2: Sacraments and the Means of Grace

  • The Mission of the Church

  • Your Part in the Story: Commitment, Calling, and Community

On April 13th, 2024 (9am-4pm) there will be a confirmation retreat where we will have our final sessions and we will work with students in writing out their own testimony and a Rule of Life as they consider their next steps in their Christian journey. Parents will be asked to come at 3pm to hear from the students and for a time of prayer.

We’re really excited about confirmation, so please let me know if you know someone who may be interested or if your child would like to sign up, they can do so here!
